Curtis F. by Robbie M., Cordova Middle

The person I interviewed is Curtis F. He was about 30 at the time. Around that time when MLK was assassinated he was living with his mother and father.

Where he lived had fields and grew cotton, but not much stood out at the time. His life in 1968 was made up by him delivering groceries. Times were different back then from now because you couldn't go in certain places and didn't have the freedom you do now.

On the day MLK was assassinated he remembers buildings were burning and smoke was filling the streets. When MLK was shot he felt sad and thought he couldn't get anywhere safe. He was actually traveling to another state when he heard about the shooting. Later that night things began to calm down.

When MLK was shot he was scared and his whole street was in chaos. He thought that MLK was a great and spoke for good reasons. He still thought MLK was a great person after he died. Life did change after he died. People started acting with more peace and everyone started to get along better and people's attitudes began to change towards each other. MLK will always be thanked and greatly admired for his speech and for everything he did.
