My grandfather was born and has lived in Memphis his entire life. Growing up, he said life was very slow because there was no technology to past the day by. He said work consumed most for his day and taking care of his four little children. My grandfather did not know much about King but he had mixed emotions when he found out he was shot. He was on his way to the grocery store when he found out. He was both afraid and sad because he did not want riots to break out because of this incident. He said that the biggest thing that changed was the installment of a curfew. Since they had to be in at a certain time, my grandfather found out about happened on the news. The night after King was shot, my grandfather said he remembered no one being on the streets. My grandfather viewed King as a good man who was just trying to settle peace in the community. He said after King was shot, it was a very slow process and no major changes in Memphis. My grandfather was just upset that his shooting happened in Memphis. Overall, my grandfather remembers the night very clearly and became said that this had happened to King.
