This project has taught me several things about my grandmother and the time in which she grew up in. By interviewing her in regards to the day that Martin Luther King died, I learned that my grandmother was an optimist and that she grew up in a time whereas, things were very volatile and there were a lot of racial tension. I found out that our lives were very different each other and I did not want to grow up during the time period in which she did. I learned to appreciate the time in which I live.

Although my grandmother grew up with racial inequality, she did not allow it to dampen her spirit. She believed in the words of Dr. King and had faith that things were going to change. It seems that she had accepted change before the changes were actually made. Even today, my grandmother believes that things between the races will become better with time. I am sure my grandmother had some good times while growing up. However, I prefer to grow up in this decade. I do not know if I could accept the way that the world was then.
