As a young boy I grew up in memphis in Colonial Acres on Capri. Is a young boy at the age of ten I was enjoying the summers with my friend and played outside all through the summer anywhere in the neighborhood I wanted because I didn't have anything to worry about.
On the day Martin Luther king was assassinated that all changed. My father called home and told my mother what happened and told her to tell my brother to get the guns and keep them close because things were about to get bad. Being only ten years old it was hard for me to understand what my father was trying to explain to me that night. He worked for Tennessee Valley Authority. At the time. It was hard for me to understand why he had to be escorted to work every day by the national guard. The day after MLK was assassinated riots broke out, there were protest in the streets and it was total chaos. After he was killed things rapidly got worse and worse. After several days things calmed down a little bit. Everywhere MLK went trouble went with him. Every where he gave speeches riots followed. He was a great man who had great ideas. Sadly his life ended before he could finish what he started. MLK was a man with great ideas, unfortunately there are to many people on both sides of the issue to solve the problem.
