Let me tell you about Martin Luther King in the 1960's. He was a very good man trying to get back their civil rights. I would like to tell you about how people felt when Martin Luther King died. Then how Memphis is different now then how it was in the 60's. Finally I will talk to you about how a typical day in 1968.

My grand mom lived in Marianna; Arkansas it is 59.2 miles away from Memphis 1hour and 9 minutes. It is a small rural town by the Mississippi River. The way people felt when Martin Luther King was most were devastated because he was a very big impact on the world. People looked up to Martin they all thought he was very inspiring they thought he was a role model. When he died they all thought that they had to start over to try to get the civil rights back so they can sit anywhere on the bus, drink from any water fountain that they want to.

Memphis is way different now than it was in the 1960's because, back then they had very big phones called land lines they were about two times as big as a house phone. They had a bike to ride to the store or school or other places to go. They did not have any cell phone back then they either had a house phone or had to go to a pay phone. My grad mom exactly was going down to see Martin Luther King's speech but, her dad did not let her go. It was a change in era because the social world as they knew it was changing into a phone sanction.

A typical day in the 1960's was they walked to school they they walked back home. After she finished her homework she went outside to play with friends. Then when it got dark she would come inside in watch TV they only had four channels and cartoons only came on Saturday. There was no video games to play she had to watch the news when the news came on all four channels. There was the NBC channel and other main channels but that was it.

In conclusion Martin Luther King is a very noble man, we took him for grated when he left we did not know what we had until it was gone. The world is always changing so watch the world around you so you know when you can make a change.
